In a Violent Nature Ratings e Recensioni
- rg94001 novembre 2024In a year filled with excellent horror movies...In a Violent Nature bucks the trend. Initial reviews were fairly positive, so I was looking forward to this movie. Don't get me wrong, there are some cool shots here and there, and a few of the kills felt innovative. That's really where my praise ends though. The gimmick of following the movie from the serial killer's perspective doesn't add much. There's a reason most movies do not do it. So much of the movie is following this guy walking around which is just not interesting in the slightest. It prevents the movie from developing any interesting characters from the pool of victims -- they are literally just given a handful of lines, effectively being cardboard cutouts. More glaringly, the movie doesn't bother trying to make the villain (and the only real character in the movie) interesting. He does not speak and gets a very stereotypical origin story. Basically, this movie isn't actually engaging from a plot or character perspective in the slightest. Maybe if you were trapped in a theater, you'd be forced to watch it, but I was constantly looking to pause the movie. Fancy kills can't make the movie, and to be honest, only 1 or 2 of them even qualify for that. The director basically decided that the gimmick would be enough to make up for all the things the movie lacks, and while I appreciate some of the nicer looking shots, there are plenty of horror movies this year that marry the strong visuals/imagery/cinematography with intriguing plots and characters and themes. Let's call this what it is, an attempt to be an artsy version of Terrifier and nothing else.
- Rick12 febbraio 2025The final few minutes were some of the most intense cinema where nothing really happens I’ve ever seen.
- tellum10 aprile 2025The concept of seeing 90% of the movie through the eyes of the slasher is a good idea, but the execution was poor due to being way too literal with forcing the audience to see plodding through woods, to the point that it was extremely pretentious. The kills are well done, one in particular is horrifying and kinda saves the movie, but this is really only for the most dedicated slasher fans. Even the general horror fan may not be able to sit through the Lord of the Rings level of walking to get to the kills.
- DigitalDisappointment3 febbraio 2025What a ginormous piece of fekkin crap. Easily the worst movie I've seen in decades. Like watching someone really boring and unimaginative play a WALKING SIMULATOR, but with stupid random violence and gore that hardly makes any sense. I hope nobody made any money on this turd.
- James Howard22 ottobre 2025Bloody awful
- ricomckee21 settembre 2025This is not a bad movie but suffers from certain production flaws that diminishes its effects. The biggest of which is the inconsistency of the movies camera direction and stories point of view. There are times it is from killers perspective, then a normal movie, then another characters…this is a mistake and having a single direction would have made the movie better. Additionally…about 15 minutes needed to be cut out. For a 90 minute movie it still seems too long. This movie is also a horror movie in the sense of gore, not thrills, scares or story. It is about mutilation and yucky effects. These are decent if not unrealistic and a bit fake…but there was no real CGI here but practical effects which I appreciate.
- Slygank14 agosto 2025Visually was nice, overall just kinda boring? You can't film from the killer's perspective and make him boring. The killer only showed personality during kills.
- Hipster ZOMBIE1 febbraio 2025A slasher flick shot from the perspective of the slasher himself! Featuring one of the best kills of the year, this movie is a uniquely shot and edited film that puts a fresh spin on the genre you have never seen done.
- Scott9 ottobre 2024I don't think it totally comes together but the hook (or in this case pair of hooks) of a slasher movie (mostly) from the perspective of the killer is fun. The few times the PoV breaks away from the killer to infodump brings the movie to a grinding halt and I still question why it would do that when the rest of the movie is so quiet you practically sleepwalk through the violence.
- Sidney Watson4 agosto 2025This movie was horrible ! Some of the actors were screaming very loudly, and it ended up being just straight up irritating. The monster was walking very slowly, and the movie was boring watching him walk around for about an hour of the movie. It's like the director didn't know how to make a good storyline.
- RuesterKraken1 agosto 2025Borefest. The movie is 90% nature walk, not an exaggeration. There really is only 1 good kill. A couple other kills are comically bad and take too long. This is coming from a long time old school slasher fan
- Kevin Ward1 luglio 2025There is a lot to like about In A Violent Nature. If you’re a slasher fan, this has some brutal and unique kills that are worthy of the early festival buzz this has garnered. [Read My Full Review] Cinematography and sound are really wonderfully looking. Shot like a 3rd person video game, the camera follows closely behind our undead killer, pushing in as something comes into his focus and panning left or right as he looks to follow his new target. It’s different and unique and makes for really fun watch to see a slasher from this new perspective. Where this film disn’t quite live up to the buzz is the finale (if you could even call it that). Having spend the entire runtime methodically plodding behind this killer, we inexplicably shift perspective to our final girl and the end really fizzles. I would have loved one more exclamation point kill to close out this film. No such luck. Plenty of fun to be had, but enjoy those kills while they’re happening because beyond a certain point, they dry up. Still an easy recommend.
- sopula29 maggio 2025Its Gerry x Friday 13 Pretty sweet movie, unique somewhat chill and relaxing despite being a slasher, i would have enjoyed it a lot more if the two longs scenes that didnt have big boy in it were not there or a lot shorter
- jackmeat24 maggio 2025My quick rating - 6.3/10. This flick delves into the dark allure of the undead with a fresh perspective, making it a welcome entry for me in the slasher genre. In A Violent Nature revolves around the resurrection of a monstrous entity after a locket is removed from its resting place in a collapsed fire tower. This act unleashes a series of brutal killings in a remote wilderness, setting the stage for an iconic new killer. I immediately noticed the unique approach to storytelling. Unlike traditional slasher films that focus heavily on the victims and their futile attempts to escape, this flick shifts the narrative to the killer's perspective. This decision keeps the audience's attention firmly on the antagonist, enhancing the sense of dread as we follow his every move. The victims, often engaged in typical slasher film activities, serve more as a backdrop to the killer's relentless pursuit, adding a layer of realism to the unfolding horror. The cinematography deserves commendation, particularly the forest scenes. The filmmakers use the wilderness setting to their advantage, creating an eerie atmosphere that amplifies the tension. The camera work effectively captures the isolation and unpredictability of the forest, making it an integral part of the narrative. Simple yet effective. Even with all this good, it is not without its flaws. Do I need to bother mentioning acting in this type of movie? The ending feels somewhat forced, as if the creators weren't entirely sure how to wrap up the story. This leads to an obligatory sequel setup, which might leave some of you feeling unsatisfied. Despite this, the pacing remains consistent throughout, ensuring that the audience stays engaged from start to finish. For slasher movie enthusiasts, In a Violent Nature offers a refreshing take on the genre. Its focus on the killer combined with absolutely brutal kills, makes this one a horror fan treat. While it may not be perfect, it certainly stands out for its distinctive approach and atmospheric tension, so check it out. For a first full-length flick from writer/director Chris Nash I think we see there are good things to come in the future, and I am looking forward to what is next.
