I'm sorry, but if you don't have fun with this, then you're probably just a miserable person. Sure, it's not as sophisticated as it could have been, frankly it's pretty damn silly and devolves into little more than a wrestling match. But it perfectly balances the style and tone of both series and offers up loads of fan-pleasing mayhem.

Freddy vs. Jason is an absolute blast of a film and still holds up on rewatch. Positives: - The movie is well made, well directed, well shot, well edited, and well paced - The movie visually looks pretty good - I really like the lore about Freddy that we get here - The movie comes up with a very believable reason why these two cross paths - Most of the characters are pretty good and enjoyable to be around - The performances are pretty good as well - The kills are awesome and brutal - The practical effects for the kills are pretty good - The Freddy vs. Jason battle is AWESOME!! Negatives: - Some of the backstory for characters specifically a certain romance is just crazy and really bothered me - I wasn’t the biggest fan of how Jason was portrayed and that really effects the movie as well - Freddy should have killed more people Overall Freddy vs. Jason is a flawed but fun movie that I definitely recommend if your into slashers.

Ronnie Yu, fresh off re-invigorating Chucky, works his mojo on the battle between two of the biggest slasher villains of multiple generations. Jason is still in Hell when Freddy, all but forgotten in Springwood, needs Jason start killing in his home town so he can be remembered and feared again, thereby regaining his power. Once Jason has been dispatched, Freddy realizes it’s not so easy to put the genie back in the bottle. This, of course, leads to the inevitable clash of the titans we get in the third act. There are many things to love about Freddy Vs. Jason. For any red blooded American male there’s Monica Keena and Kathrine Isabel. We have Freddy acting a little more scary and menacing. Jason is racking up kills left and right. Ken Kirzinger did well as Jason. It’s a shame he never got another shot. There were some characters that annoyed me, like Freeburg, the stoner who’s basically playing a Temu version of Jason Mewes from Jay & Silent Bob. No offense to the actor. I’ve heard that was a producer thing. The cast is good overall. The story brings in beats from part 3 of Elm Street with Hypnocyl playing a big part in the story. The idea of a second parental coverup occurring because the parents figured out that making the kids forget about Freddy and blocking them from dreaming would keep them alive. That’s pretty heavy when you think about that. It’s the idea of compounding lies to keep from telling the truth or splitting peas with a nail file for homemade split pea soup. I don’t know what that means. Ignore that last sentence. If you look closely during the scene at school when Monica Keena’s boyfriend shows up then you’ll see Evangeline Lilly’s big screen debut, long before Lost and Ant-Man made her a star. She was just a featured extra in a scene. But she was far more subtle than Jean Claude Van Damme in Breakin’. Next time - we talk about what the most obnoxious character thinks are so stupendous in the Reboot/Remake/Requel/Legacy sequel…? I’m not sure what to call it. At the end of that review, I will post my rankings of all 12 movies.

One of the best in the franchise if not the best since the original. Hits all the marks from fun killings to the campy nature Freddy developed, and really nailed the 2000s vibe to connect with the younger audience. It also righted some wrongs in the previous 80s Nightmare films that got off the rails with their plots, or in Jason's case, Jason X. The ending was also a perfect sendoff for both. A real underracted classic slasher.

It’s a good Halloween watch with a lot of fun moments and action scenes, but the only thing that irritates me is the WAY TOO graphic nudity which I don’t think works. But it’s still fun and actually my first entrance into both franchises, if you’re a fan of the classic slashers and just want to see two of them ripping each other to shreds then you’ll love this movie. It isn’t really that scary for being a horror movie but it’s really fun and I do recommend it if you want some fun action scenes!

In the beginning, when Freddy catches you up with everything that happened in both of the movie series, it reminded me of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song. Although it did have some jumps cares, the movie overall felt kind of funny, which is a good thing to me. I was hoping the movie was going to go something like, "Jason likes to sleep warm, so he sets his blanket on fire every night." Charlie Linderman was hot. Will was also hot.

Loved this movie when it came out. Doesn’t hold up as well as an adult.

Teased and held off for years this clash of icons didn't disappoint on release in 2003. I remember stoned 17 year old me leaving the theater thinking it was fucking awesome. As time went on (and with a clear mind) it's faults stood out more. Jason's fear of water and some dated CGI to name a few. Regardless this is still an entertaining watch with some gnarly kills and set pieces. The bed kill, corn field massacre and the titular fight between Jason and Freddy are awesome. My longtime crush Katharine Isabelle showing up always makes me happy to. 👍👍 7/10

Nowhere near perfect, Freddy vs Jason is still straight up chaotic, bloody, mindless fun. Absolutely loved the music.

Freddy vs. Jason succeeds at putting two of horror icons of the last century for the ultimate death matches in cinematic history! I have so much nostalgia for this movie because I seen it when I was 6 years old. I love the characters like Monica Keena, Kelly Rowland, and Katharine Isabelle; they were the most attractive part of the movie. This is one of the few films in the 2000s, I don’t mind revisiting numerous times throughout the year. My favorite part of the movie is the cinematography and the music of the party in the cornfield; so hypnotic and beautiful, when Will reconciles with Lori. Freddy vs. Jason will never get old. The kills were awesome especially the stoner kid’s death, when Jason slices him in half; carnage candy people! I would’ve really wanted to see a sequel to this film with Robert Englund comes back as Freddy Krueger and Monica Keena returning as Lori Campbell. I know some people have issues with this movie, but movies are meant to entertain people; this movie sure entertain me.

Probably the best movie apart of the Friday the 13th franchise but definitely my favorite from it. A decent plot that makes sense and is easy to follow. But most importantly the kills and the epic showdown between Freddy and Jason is must see action.
