- jackmeat25 luglio 2025My quick rating - 6.5/10. Definitely a step up from the first one. Mainly by correcting the mistakes and sticking with the timeframe it is supposed to be in. The continuity part is addressed and quite simply with this one by focusing on the backstory of a survivor or two from the 78 attack, as was discussed in part one. In going through the story of what happened back in 1978, the protagonists get a better idea of what needs to be done. Instead of having a constant onslaught of music being the ONLY method of trying to give you the nostalgic feel, this one actually does a good job with sticking with the styles and lingo to bring you back to the slasher era. Although I was a bit suspect that telling your friend to "Suck It" was a big 70s comeback, but I'll take the DX slip for the humor. This one has a good feel of the slashers from the late 70s-early 80s and adheres to the formula quite well. Also, this one isn't afraid of getting to the gore with the kills. The characters here were easier to actually get behind and care about what was happening. It didn't have that bizarre feel of the first, wondering who should survive or even care. Just a more polished piece of PG-13 horror this time around that playfully uses the tropes and leads us into 1666 for the wrap-up. I am enjoying this idea from Netflix and think it is a fresh idea for horror fans. Hopefully, they can maybe hit up someone with a bit more R-rated themed ideas and direction for their next foray into an event such as this. But for now, popping up a solid point is great for fans, and if they can do so yet again with part three, we are in for a quality finale. (Vague plot summary since way too easy to spoil anything when you are behind a flick) Edit: I almost forgot a completely contrived ending that is laughable. You'll see.
- Zokkiie24 maggio 2025Pretty fun slasher with a cool '70s summer camp vibe. It feels like a mix of Friday the 13th and Stranger Things (probably because of Sadie Sink, who’s great in it). Some parts drag a bit and the story’s kinda predictable, but the kills are solid and it ties into the trilogy nicely. Not amazing, but definitely enjoyable if you’re into horror.
