- rg94004 gg faEvil Dead Burn reminds me a lot of the game Resident Evil 7. Both stories belong to franchises that became famous due to their campier entries but want to instead focus on the horror, specifically the horror of a nightmare family. In fact, a lot of the characters, the setting, and even some of the scenes seem to be directly inspired by RE7. I think Evil Dead Burn might be the most sadistic entry in the entire franchise, and it revels in its gore and brutality. I see a lot of critics complaining about this, but I don't think it is necessarily pure gore porn in the vein of some of the Saw movies. There are some jaw-dropping set pieces in this movie with some incredible camerawork and production. There is a single continuous take in this movie that is stunning filmmaking. The camera whirls around throughout, highlighting numerous objects that will be Chekhov's guns. I genuinely think this movie has some of the best cinematography in the entire franchise as well. However, there is none of the goofy humor that made Evil Dead so famous. There are some minor attempts at it, but they don't land and are clearly not the director's strength. That lack of comedy in of itself isn't a bad thing. The prior entry, Evil Dead Rise, wasn't exactly funny but it was fun. I think that's one thing this movie lacks. In its attempt to really amplify the Evil in Evil Dead, the atmosphere becomes oppressive and suffocating. It's bleak, and the nonstop intensity exacerbates that. I don't think that is a bad thing, but I can see fans of the franchise struggling with the change in tone. I think Souheila Yacoub is a pretty good main character, but I wish the family drama was a bit stronger. I think the concept of using the deadites to amplify the nightmare family dynamics is really good, but I felt like the movie was fairly superficial with it. I personally enjoyed this movie because of its inventive imagery and horror sequences that felt like a ride through hell, but I can see why a lot of people who watch this might feel it isn't a proper Evil Dead movie.
- Hipster ZOMBIE2 gg fa“Evil Dead Burn” delivers gross out gore, laugh out loud moments of terror despite a weak protagonist that doesn’t really find her footing as well as previous films Final Girls. Still though, the film has an interesting concept following the family of the researcher who originally discovered the Necronomicon. The Deadites track down the family and try to recover an ancient blade that is the only thing that can truly kill them. The gore is top notch delivering some gross out and shocking scenes. People won’t be looking at their dishwashers the same way. And of course Evil Dead wouldn’t be Evil Dead without some goofy humor as seen here in the form of a poor dimensia afflicted grandma, to go any further than that will be giving too much away. Oh and for dog lovers there is a brutal scene involving a dog so prepare yourselves. All in all Evil Dead Burn is a fun entry in the franchise. It runs a little bit long towards the end in my opinion and I wish more could have been explored with the family. In the end, it’s a film I will revisit around Halloween for sure and is one to check out for fans of the franchise.

I loved it Once again the opening (and the lake) are the best part *ditches his girlfriend to a psychopathic demon* *is shocked when she is immediately shish kabobbed* Sam Raimi single-handedly extinguished the Latin language revival before it ever even had a chance Wish we could have watched that guy just keep shooting himself It’s cool that this family is so progressive about sex that that lady can fuck her zombie husband in front of her zombie mother Why would you break the pen. Just feels like negative consequences all around Genuinely grotesque in a multitude of ways Just some dope, disgusting, original violence! The plot not so much! It was quite dumb that she even tried to use any other weapon once she found the one that, you know, works… Keep coming out with these 3* films - it’s fine with me! I had a terrible time! It was fun! Watched at Warren Regal 21 Currently Ranked #55/114 in 2026 Ranked
