Diretto da Will GluckOlive Penderghast, liceale irreprensibile e anche un po' invisibile, dopo essersi abbandonata con un'amica ad una piccola bugia sullo stato della propria verginità, viene travolta dai rapidissimi pettegolezzi della scuola. Incredula e testarda, si cuce addosso una “lettera scarlatta” e decide di lasciar credere ai compagni ciò che vogliono, per vedere fino a che punto possono spingersi il loro pregiudizio e la sua discriminazione.
