- Cubane30 dicembre 2025Wow, this movie is goofy. The acting is wildly inconsistent, the set design is silly, and the special effects aged shockingly badly. It's hard to believe this comes from the same source material as the Villeneuve version. I like that Lynch made an attempt to include dialogue from the book, but it always stands out because of how out of place it is with the rest of the script. The sets range from acceptable to silly, which is not helped by the bad acting; especially bad in the case of the Harkonnens. Sting was a terrible choice for Feyd Rautha, and McMillan just did not do the Baron justice. The sand worms, also, are meant to be scary but end up being straight up comical. Similarly the score is usually fine but becomes extremely jarring when it flips from orchestra to electric guitar. Adapting a book is hard, and one as complex as Dune is very hard. But regardless of how much one glazes David Lynch, this is very much an example of the wrong approach to it.
- EnochLight18 novembre 2024This film - how does one describe it? Mesmerizingly shot... beautifully scored... wonderfully acted. David Lynch got a lot of flack for his take, and that's unfortunate - as it possesses many of his trademarks: mind bending visuals; uncomfortably organic effects; things happening within.. "things"; hearing the words of protagonists' thoughts at key moments; mind tripping visuals... One could argue that there was no better person at the time to bring Frank Herbert's world into being, and David Lynch did it masterfully. Oddly enough, it's probably his most approachable work ever made (his original early 90's-era Twin Peaks television series being the exception). For anyone who is a David Lynch fan (raises hand!), this film is a must-see. For fans of sci-fi, you would be remiss to not have this in your collection. For everyone else: fuck off.
- Mister Arn13 maggio 2025Dune is a highly complex story, and if you have read the book, you can fill in all the missing backstories. I'm afraid that makes this a much more enjoyable film for fans, while first-timers might have difficulty following the story. I'm a fan of Dune and loved it.
- maub172 dicembre 2025For a 1984 movie, it was pretty good. Well acted, nicely adapted. It’s always difficult to adapt such a complicated novel to movies and they did a pretty good job.
- darthtoon7 novembre 2025It's a classic, with an All-Star cast, directed by David lynch with an artistic stylization that only he could bring. this was back when there was no CGI, or VFX a lot of the effects were drawn onto the sill frames by hand or practical effects, It should have been broken up into two movies. If I had to give a negative about this it would be in internal monologue thru the whole movie it's a bit distracting.
- GMLenoir10 ottobre 2025This is the ( 1984) Spice diver fan edit. Was given access to more footage by the director which was spliced to reflect the chapter version, without the silly rain. A better cut than the theatrical release
- RogerXombie6 ottobre 2025A very misunderstood film. It broke so much ground, was ahead of its time, and did the impossible by adapting the huge story that is DUNE.
- Myke and Nick3 agosto 2025This extended version is awful. It's no wonder the director has his name taken off it
- Ringmast4r11 luglio 2025Must watch
- Bonow.7 luglio 2025Real classic with great actors.
