- Andy Cippico24 gennaio 2026Having read the book on more than one occasion, this was unexpectedly difficult to relate to, or follow. Perhaps the direction style and acting were of their time, but they were massively jarring to my 21st century sensibilities. The shaky photography didn't help, not to mention the totally gratuitous and irrelevant sex scene. I should also mention that the acting was particularly poor, and not even helped by the usual excellent Sutherland. This should have remained true to Du Maurier's novel rather than being force-fed with pointless filler which I suspect was included in a vain attempt to increase the sense of uneasiness in the viewer. This could have been adapted faithfully into a one-hour short film, not the strange and drawn-out effort we see here.

- Mister Arn21 maggio 2025The film is slow, disjointed, and driven by the soundtrack instead of dialogue, which makes it hard to understand what's going on. However, some of the visuals are outstanding, and a couple of scenes make the movie worth watching.
