Clerks isn’t just a comedy—it’s a snapshot of what it felt like to be under 25 in the ‘90s, especially if you were drifting while everyone else seemed to be moving forward. It captures that specific kind of aimlessness—the frustration of spinning your wheels while your peers build momentum—and turns it into something both painfully relatable and hilarious. The film hits uncomfortably close to home at times, but balances it with crude humor and irreverence that keep it endlessly entertaining.

Basically starts a new era for stoner comedies as the successor to Cheech and Chong. All too relatable for young adults, and one of the most quotable movies ever. “In A Row?”

Fun fact: Clerks 3 has a higher fan rating that this gem. Make it make sense. I love this movie though. One of the best.

I really enjoy this one for how unapologetically raw it is. The writing is the king here, and it's equal parts immature and genius.

Clerks is a brilliant example of how sharp writing and unforgettable characters can elevate a low‑budget film into a cult classic. Dialogue is the lifeblood of this movie—rapid‑fire, irreverent, philosophical, and often hilariously irrelevant. Kevin Smith builds the entire experience around conversations, and it works because those conversations feel authentic, messy, and deeply human. The supporting cast adds colour and nuance, popping in and out with memorable quirks, but there’s no question the leads carry the film with their chemistry and deadpan delivery. What makes Clerks so compelling is its ability to turn everyday frustrations and mundane routines into something funny, relatable, and oddly profound. It’s a masterclass in script‑driven storytelling, proving you don’t need spectacle when the characters and dialogue are this strong. Clerks remains a defining indie film—raw, talkative, and endlessly quotable.

The greatest stoner writing ever. Kevin Smith is so smitty with his vulgar writing I love it. The Dante and Randal dynamic is soooooo good love it every time. Dante really the every man it feels like. This movie is truly an all timer I wish Kevin Smith kept this heat up but he sadly tapered off after Dogma

It's a better movie than it has any business being. At times, it feels like Seinfeld, other times it feels like Mad magazine. I find it endlessly re-watchable.
