Diretto da Randall MillerNegli anni Settanta Hilly Kristal (Alan Rickman) apre il "Country, Bluegrass and Blues" (CBGB), un club di New York. Di fronte all'impossibilità di riuscire a piazzare concerti di gruppi country, Hilly decide di aprire le porte del suo locale ad altri tipi di musica e di lasciare spazio a giovani esponenti della musica rock underground e del punk, artisti che nessuno conosceva e che presentavano i loro pezzi originali.
