Danila torna a casa dopo aver militato nell'esercito russo. Visto che la vita al paese è priva di prospettive, l'anziana madre lo convince a recarsi a San Pietroburgo dal fratello Viktor. Sembra infatti che costui abbia fatto fortuna. Ben presto Danila capisce che Viktor è un killer al soldo della mafia e subito si schiera al suo fianco. Soprattutto quando viene a sapere che il fratello è nel mirino di un boss che vorrebbe eliminarlo.

    If you're talking gangster movies and this isn't on your list, you are missing out. Encapsulates post USSR struggles and chaos of the 90s well, it's a time capsule. Danila is a likeable protagonist and has values that are never compromised, not like most western gangster movies where it's "That's the way the game is buddy" mentality.

    I came to know of BRAT through my favorite video game of all time GTA IV which draws a lot of inspiration from this movie - the atmospheric and set design of the early and post soviet era movies are so refreshing - everything feels so intense and real - this movie grazes over a lot of darker themes of family and societal dynamics without being too subtle about the character development Danilla goes throughout the movie - ALONE and TIRED - the movie also had a great deal of amazing music - primarily Nautilus Pompilius - there aint much gangster movies from this era which feel this magnetizing to watch and experience - 4/5
