It's ok-ish.... for a late night nothing else to do evening. The concept is interesting, however... at some parts you could definitely see it was a lower budget movie.

Definitely worth a watch. Have me hooked to the screen. I was not expecting much, glad I decided to play it. Recommended if you like Sci-Fi Horror.

Cool sci fi horror flick that’s half alien invasion meets an outer limits episode.

Worth keeping as a late-night contained sci-fi horror watch, but with some reservations. The initial appeal is obvious: a commercial flight becomes the setting for an alien/supernatural nightmare at altitude. That is a strong premise, and Black Box gets a fair bit of value from it. The cabin and cargo-hold scenes work best when the film leans into claustrophobia, failing lights, strange noises, passenger panic, and the horrible realisation that there is nowhere to go. The cast are a major reason it stays watchable. Tom Brittney gives Jeremy a serious, grounded centre, while Holly White, Boadicea Ricketts and Molly Belle Wright help sell the panic without turning it into pantomime. The creature effects are also better than expected. The practical work has some decent texture, and the CGI tentacles are not as rough as they could have been. The weakness is the larger explanation. The body-snatcher-style invasion angle makes the film feel less interesting once it should be escalating. The idea of infecting humanity one plane at a time feels strangely inefficient, and once that thought arrives, the tension drops. The film might have worked better as one strange, isolated airborne incident rather than the opening move in a broader alien strategy. Rewatch value is moderate. Good for a genre mood, especially if I want a compact aircraft horror with monsters, but not one I would pull down for the mythology or ending.

Better than it had any right to be. It didn't break any new ground, but the acting was pretty good and the monster effects were really good for a movie of this size.

I lost interest in the film about halfway through (probably closer to a quarter). Basically, I've watched this so that you don't have to.

I mean, I enjoyed it for what it was. I love the idea of planes disappearing due to unknown circumstances, and the fact of the reason why that happens in this movie is even cooler imo. It’s cheesy, it’s goofy but damn is it fun.
