The performances are solid enough, and the core message of redemption is still there, but it never really lifts into something memorable. It tells the story… and then moves on. Compared to other versions, it feels a bit restrained. There’s less energy, less atmosphere, and fewer moments that really stick with you after the credits roll. It’s not bad by any means — just a bit flat, especially if you’ve seen more dynamic adaptations. That said, there’s something to be said for its simplicity. If you want a clean, no-frills version of the story without extra flair or modernisation, this does the job just fine. 🍵 A plain cup of tea — warm and familiar, but missing a bit of flavour.
