I just watched 50 First Dates, and I would give it a solid 5 out of 5 stars. This is one of my favorite romantic comedies because it perfectly balances humor, romance, and heart. It has a unique story that keeps you invested from beginning to end, and it is filled with memorable moments that will make you laugh, smile, and even get a little emotional. It is the kind of movie that never gets old no matter how many times you watch it. The movie follows Henry Roth, played by Adam Sandler, who falls in love with Lucy Whitmore, played by Drew Barrymore. The challenge is that Lucy suffers from short term memory loss and wakes up every morning with no memory of the previous day. Instead of giving up, Henry decides to win her heart over again every single day. It is such a creative and touching premise that makes the movie stand out from other romantic comedies. Adam Sandler gives one of my favorite performances of his career. He brings a great mix of comedy and genuine emotion to the role, making Henry easy to root for. Drew Barrymore is equally amazing as Lucy. She is charming, funny, and incredibly likable, and the chemistry between her and Sandler is fantastic. You completely believe in their relationship, which makes the emotional moments even more meaningful. The supporting cast is also excellent. Rob Schneider adds plenty of laughs with his over the top humor, while Sean Astin is great as Lucy's brother. Blake Clark delivers a heartfelt performance as Lucy's father, showing how much he cares for his daughter. Every character feels important, and they all help make the story even more enjoyable. One of the biggest strengths of 50 First Dates is how well it blends comedy with emotional storytelling. The jokes are funny and natural, but the movie also knows when to slow down and let the emotional moments shine. It never feels forced or overly dramatic. Instead, it tells a heartfelt story about love, commitment, and never giving up on the people you care about. The setting in Hawaii makes the movie even more enjoyable. The beautiful beaches, scenery, and relaxed atmosphere give the film a warm and uplifting feeling that fits the story perfectly. The soundtrack also does a great job matching the mood, making every scene even more memorable. The pacing is excellent because there is always something happening. Even though Henry repeats his attempts to win Lucy over every day, each interaction feels different and keeps the story fresh. The movie never drags, and every scene adds something meaningful to the overall journey. What really makes 50 First Dates special is its message about unconditional love. Henry proves that real love takes patience, sacrifice, and dedication. The movie reminds you that love is not always easy, but when you truly care about someone, they are worth fighting for. It is a beautiful message that stays with you long after the movie ends. Overall, 50 First Dates is an outstanding romantic comedy that has everything you could want in a movie. It is funny, heartfelt, emotional, and filled with fantastic performances. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are incredible together, and their chemistry is one of the biggest reasons the movie works so well. I absolutely loved every minute of it, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a feel good movie that will leave you smiling. For me, it easily earns 5 out of 5 stars.

Drew Barrymore was fantastic and deserves an award for this role. The fact that it was a feel good romcom was just a bonus. It's rewatchable for a pick me up.

I love this movie. It's about a man who meets a woman who can't remember from one day to the next and him making her fall in love with him over and over again.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – 50 First Dates – Love, Memory, and the Magic of Starting Over 50 First Dates is one of Adam Sandler’s best — a romantic comedy that balances heart, humour, and just enough absurdity to make the impossible feel genuine. Set against the bright backdrop of Hawaii, it tells the story of Henry, a carefree vet who falls in love with Lucy, a woman whose short-term memory resets every night. Each day, he has to make her fall in love with him all over again. Sandler is at his most sincere here, softening his usual goofiness with genuine warmth. Drew Barrymore matches him beat for beat, radiating charm and innocence without ever feeling one-note. Together they turn what could’ve been a gimmick into a surprisingly tender exploration of love’s persistence. The familiar faces from Sandler’s circle add some goofy humour to keep things light, but it’s the chemistry between the leads that makes the film work. It’s sweet, funny, and quintessentially American in its optimism — a story where love conquers neurological impossibility and still manages to make you smile. Even knowing it’ll end happily doesn’t take away from the magic of watching it get there. 🥥 Pairing: A tropical piña colada — bright, sweet, and full of sunshine, perfect for a film that believes every day can be the first day of the rest of your love story.

One of Adam Sandler's better movies. Just the right amount of his over-the-top yelling mixed with a good 90s love story. Good messaging that your really don't get a lot of nowadays...

I think you need to understand and appreciate Adam Sandler's comedy to enjoy his movies! They've always got that 'weird' factor but it's all just playful. If you don't get his humour, then this and all of his movies won't sit well with you...I love it! Lol For me, this is a classic! It will never get old. I can watch this (and many other Adam Sandler movies) over and over again. They're just feel good movies!! Plus, Hawai'i is where my heart is, so watching this makes my heart smile. It'll always have 5/5 stars ✅ Adam Sandler ✅ Hawai'i ✅ Rom-Com Ok byee ✌🏼

One of the movies on the tail end of Sandler's career that didn't completely suck.

This movie really said: “What if dating was already hard… but on expert mode?” Henry falls in love and then signs up for the world’s longest tutorial level. Bro isn’t in a relationship — he’s in a daily subscription service. Every morning Lucy wakes up like: “New day, who dis?” And Henry’s back like an intern at a job he can’t quit, re-pitching himself with 110% enthusiasm. Also… let’s be honest: If your relationship requires VHS tapes, rehearsed scripts, and a full production team just to function, that’s not romance — that’s a group project. And Henry’s friends? Zero help. They’re just vibing while this man is out here running a romantic Groundhog Day speedrun. Cute movie? Sure. Realistic? Only if your love language is amnesia and emotional damage. Roast Verdict: A film where love conquers all… except basic medical follow-ups and long-term therapy. Still funny though. Still cute. But wow, that relationship needs a user manual.
