Derek Zoolander, famoso supermodello e vincitore per tre anni di seguito del prestigioso premio assegnato al "Modello Maschile dell'Anno", si vede "scippare" il premio dal nuovo idolo delle passerelle, Hansel, mentre un giornale rivela la sua idiozia. Per Zoolander è uno shock, la fine della sua carriera. In cerca di qualcosa che dia un nuovo senso alla sua esistenza, Zoolander viene contattato da Mugatu, lo stilista più 'in' del momento, affinché diventi l'immagine per la sua nuova collezione, un grande evento al quale sarà presente anche il nuovo primo ministro della Malesia. Ma Derek non sa che in realtà Mugatu ha in mente altro: dietro a lui c'è una segreta coalizione di stilisti che, preoccupati dal progetto del primo ministro di combattere lo sfruttamento di manodopera minorile nelle fabbriche tessili, hanno deciso di assassinarlo, utilizzando appunto Zoolander che, per la sua piattezza cerebrale, può diventare un killer manovrabile...

When Zoolander first came out, I didn’t connect with it.
The humor felt too exaggerated, the characters too absurd and I left thinking it wasn’t for me.
But years later, on a second watch, something shifted.
With time, I appreciated the satire more, the way it poked fun at the fashion industry, the ridiculousness of celebrity culture and the sheer commitment to silliness.
Derek Zoolander’s clueless charm and Hansel’s laid back rivalry suddenly felt sharper and the over the top gags landed in a way they hadn’t before.
It turned into one of those films that grows on you, where the absurdity becomes part of the fun.
What once felt too much now felt clever and I realized it had more staying power than I gave it credit for.
