I'm not sure what I preferred about this movie. The fact that most of the characters in this movie are well written and all properly likeable and unlikable, like regular humans. Maybe it's the well made bleak atmosphere that let you go "man nothing good is about to happen". Or the absolute weird villain and amazing over the top ending. But I believe that this movie deserves it's place amongst best modern horror movies along Obsession, Hereditary and Bring it back.Weapons - Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma
Wow what did I just watched. Such a unique fever dream movie that works well as an odd thank you to the slasher genre, but more than anything as a deep dive into social perception and queerness. Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma tackles sexual pleasure, self love and agency all this packed in a weird 80s grainy motion picture filled with Easter eggs. Not something I had on my bingo card. In a way, this movie reminds me of Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vermont from 2006, for the way that it uses common slasher tropes to renegotiate how viewers should perceive them or at least to push a reflection in it's audience It's quite the trip and the sort of film that lingers with you about it's subject. It will either leave you on a "I'm sorry wtf was that?" Or end up moving you in some sort of way. Either way, by far one of the most unique watched this year for me!Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma - The End of Oak Street
I think that, similar to Disclosure Day which came out this year, the End of Oak Street suffers once again from very questionable writting, plot points and weird pacing. It makes me wonder if it's me getting out of touch or if these older amazing writters are just losing it. Visually this movie was fantastic and I loved the dinosaur. I think this is 100% where that movie shines. But the characters act so erratically and make such abriterary stupid decisions. I'm glad the movie was 1h30 minutes because I am not sure I could have taken much more of them. And that ending. No spoiler here, but how is that ok?! A meh overall movie, that got me more frustrated than anything. Pretty cool dinosaurs tho!The End of Oak Street - The Invite
Extremly chaotic, weirdly entertaining, but such a deep beautiful dive into human misery. If you ever being in a long relationship I find it hard to believe you couldn't understand part of the dialogue thats being shared with you in this film. Yes this movie: A: is a fantastic long lasting nightmare; B: has one of the coldest opening ever done in an horror movie (shout out if you watched both movies back to back); C: features one of the most unique use of the popstar world and the wild stuff happening. But, above all else, it teaches you amazing psychological tricks to stay mentally healthy, like drinking millions of gallons of water everytime you are stessed out and this, as if your life depended on it.Smile 2 - Rings
Another movie about terrible parenting! Joke aside for a movie that focuses about the born of a girl, there is very little involvement of that girl in there. It's quite disappointing too because the opening and the university portion of the story is very good and entertaining. Quite the missed opportunity.Rings
