Fletch vient d'être condamné à une peine de prison de 5 ans. Il essaie de garder la tête haute et de survivre. Pas facile lorsqu'on a un co-détenu un peu naïf et un gardien un peu tyrannique sur son dos...

British telly used to churn out quality sitcoms in vast quantities in the 1970s and 80s, which has to go down as a golden era. Current sitcoms pale into insignificance in comparison with their predecessors of another era. 'Porridge' was always like front and centre, along with 'Yes Minister', and 'Yes, Prime Minister', 'Only Fools... etc. to my taste. Ronnie Barker was never better here; probably at the apex of his distinguished career as a masterful character actor, as well as a peerless comedy turn. However, I never got quite to like 'Open All Hours' for some reason that also starred Ronnie Barker, and that ran contemporaneously with 'Porridge' as I recall. I was a gregarious twenty-something in the 1970s, always out and about, but I always made a point of staying in to catch another hilarious episode of 'Porridge'. I guess the comedy catalyst for me is spoken wit, and one-liners that stay in your mind. Alan Simpson & Ray Galton wrote some marvellous stuff, but it takes the talents of a Tony Hancock, or a Ronnie Barker to bring a written script to life.
