Jeremiah was an ambitious Showtime series that did a surprisingly strong job with character development, long-arching storylines, and interpersonal drama. The premise—a world where a virus wiped out all adults, leaving the next generation to rebuild—had enormous potential, and the show often delivered compelling moments rooted in tension, politics, and the struggle to create order from chaos. However, despite its emotional and narrative strengths, the production frequently felt cheap for a premium cable program. The limited sets, sparse world-building, and muted visuals sometimes undermined the scale the story needed. It also diverged heavily from the original graphic novels, to the point where it became unclear where the show ultimately intended to go. After the intense and well-built Valhalla Sector confrontation wrapped up, the overarching momentum seemed to fade. Instead of escalating into something bigger, the story just… fizzled out. Jeremiah had great ideas and strong characters, but lacked the clarity and resources to fully realize its world.

    Definitely a sleeper. Nicely entertaining.
