The result is a warmer, friendlier haunting that trades dry British wit for broader, heart-on-its-sleeve humour. Many of the characters and plots will feel familiar to fans of the original — the soldier, the noblewoman, the hippie, the scout leader — but they’re reimagined with an American flavour. The ghosts are more talkative, the pacing quicker, and the emotional beats a little louder. It’s not quite as sharp or self-aware as its UK predecessor, but it’s undeniably charming in its own right. The cast’s chemistry carries the show, and as the series settles into its rhythm, it builds a genuine sense of community — among both the living and the dead.
