Roddenberry wrote the initial notes after Star Trek was cancelled in 1969 and the script notes for the series in 1976. It was renamed Earth: Final Conflict to avoid conflict with the Scientology movie, with his widow Majel as a consultant and also appearing in the series. It used CGI to a large effect for the aliens natural form and environment, while again the show featured technology that we now consider common, as in the case of the Global, a communicator, telephone, video link, computer, PDA, GPS. As many have said before, Gene Roddenberry, a man who dreams were decades and centuries ahead of the rest of us.
