For Meg, Nicky, and Usman, the real world is merely an inconvenient loading screen between raids — until a well-meaning newcomer, Russell, crashes into their digital paradise and forces reality into the party. The show does a solid job capturing the humour and absurdity of gaming obsession, especially for anyone who’s ever lost an entire weekend to a boss fight. But it also leans heavily into the stereotype of the socially stunted gamer, a trope that feels increasingly outdated in an age where gaming is mainstream. While the jokes land and the references are sharp, the characters rarely grow beyond their archetypes, leaving the satire feeling a touch stale. That said, Dead Pixels remains entertaining for anyone who’s ever taken a game way too seriously.
