Strong themes and atmosphere, with a message that really stuck with me: life has meaning because it doesn’t last forever, and simply existing without purpose isn’t the same as truly living. I liked how different characters reflected that idea in their own way. My issue is that the show can feel too vague at times, with some important parts not explained clearly enough. I understood and respected the message more than the actual storytelling, but it still left an impact.👌🏽🤖

What if superman had a hand in the end of the world but suffered from amnesia? This cold and unrelenting anime takes us to a desolate and war torn future where humanity survives by the skin of their teeth in a world where robots tear each other to pieces just to survive another day. Our protagonist takes us on a tour of this apocalypse in a metaphorical sense like Virgil accompanying Dante through the circles of hell; meeting a cast of characters that all contribute to a narrative whole by the end of the show. Very stylish, crispy animation as well as a poetic story will keep your attention despite the somber and melancholic vistas and soundtrack that will accompany you through the entire journey. Ive seen this show twice now and what I can honestly say is that this apocalyptic divergence in the world of Casshan is well worth your time if you want a slower, talking head anime with incredible action sequences in between. Give it a shot!
