Other than Dark, this may be Netflix's best show. The characters are fascinating and challenging. The story is exactly as history tells us about times during the Weimar Republic. Berlin was absolutely hopping, and some of the best set pieces in the show are at the club that is present to much of the story. These musical numbers were incredibly lush and lavish and the showmanship is outstanding. Finally, the recreation of pre-war Alexanderplatz is incredibly well done. The people who conceived of and built these sets should get some kind of award. The show is ostensibly a mystery/crime drama where the purptrators turn out to be quite nasty. Plot armor is not a thing. The spectre of the Nazi Party is everywhere, but people haven't picked up on what that means. Manipulation is everywhere and they ate already abusing their power, and it is very creepy to see how they view Hitler as messianic. I think even history buffs are going to be impressed by this show.
