The special life story of Salomon Rodrigues 'Monne' de Miranda. In 1919 he became the first Jewish alderman in Amsterdam. De Miranda battled all his life to improve the living conditions of the Amsterdam workers. In 1940 the Germans invade the Netherlands. Fearlessly opposing the ruthless occupier, De Miranda stands up for the oppressed. His sense of justice will ultimately be fatal to him.
