Based in Victorian England, hundreds of kids live in a mountain called Rarity, which is surrounded by lava. It's a magic school for orphaned girls and when they reach 10 years of age, they are tested to see which wand they will earn. Gold is the strongest, bronze is the weakest. If they fail, they're wandless. But this test isn't the main part of the story, there's a horrific truth just waiting to be discovered, which is the reason many of them have had such tragic pasts, and why they've been lied to for so long.
