It’s not scary, it’s not stylish and it is just not interesting. The only things worthy of watching are the call-outs to Carpenter’s masterpiece.
- Zokkiie30 septembre 2025It isn’t bad at all — it’s got some tense moments, solid atmosphere, and cool practical/CGI mix, even if the CGI hasn’t aged perfectly. It doesn’t hit the same heights as its predecessor, but it works as a creepy little monster flick in its own right. Honestly feels underrated for what it is.
- MrTrivet22 septembre 2025It turned out better than I expected. A solid prequel to the 1982 classic, it tries to creatively expand the lore established in the original. From my perspective, those were huge shoes to fill - I love the original - but in many moments, I could still feel the same icy, claustrophobic, and unsettling atmosphere. The acting is strong; the cast brings to life characters that really draw you into the dark world of the Antarctic station. The CGI effects are fine and work, but they lack the brutal, grotesque quality that the practical effects in the original had, which was probably my biggest expectation. I don’t want to sound like I’m whining that things were better before, but those kinds of effects just aren’t made anymore. Overall, the film maintains a consistent, dark mood and delivers several genuinely effective moments of horror. While it doesn’t match the original classic, I consider it worth watching - especially if you want to see how the story of such an iconic horror can be creatively expanded.

La paléontologue Kate Lloyd part en Antarctique rejoindre une équipe de scientifiques norvégiens qui a localisé un vaisseau extraterrestre emprisonné dans la glace. Elle y découvre un organisme qui semble s'être éteint au moment du crash, de multiples années auparavant. Mais une manipulation élémentaire libère accidentellement la créature de sa prison glacée. Capable de reproduire à la perfection tout organisme vivant, elle s'abat sur les membres de l'expédition, les décimant un à un. Kate s'allie au pilote américain Carter pour tenter de mettre fin au carnage. Aux confins d’un continent aussi fascinant qu’hostile, le prédateur protéiforme venu d’un autre monde tente de survivre et de prospérer aux dépens d’humains terrorisés qu’il infecte et pousse à s’entre-tuer. The Thing sert de prélude au film culte de 1982, réalisé par John Carpenter, dont il reprend le titre.
