Où regarder Le Prestige
- This ranks amoung the best of movies. When you are told in plain english what is going on in the movie, and yet, you know for sure it's some thing else, and then in the end, everything comes full circle and you marvel at the genius of the entire experience. What a great movie. Being a period piece and the subject matter, I always feared it was a rip off of the Houdini legend or something. But it's not. It's authentically new and clever and deeply engrossing. You can only watch it for the first time, once. So save that experience for a time when you can give it your full attention, because it's full of nuance while still being direct. It's Christopher Nolan at his best.
- A Masterclass in Illusion, Obsession, and Nolan's Directorial Brilliance The Prestige exemplifies Christopher Nolan’s signature grand scale, featuring massive, meticulously crafted period stages that pull you straight into 18th-century Victorian London. At that time, when entertainment resources were scarce, stage magic was a serious, fiercely competitive business, and the film brilliantly captures the extreme lengths magicians would go to in order to outdo one another. The story is brilliant and completely unpredictable; you won't guess what's coming next, and the ending climax is just mind blowing. And Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman? Absolute peak performances, completely outclassing everyone. If you somehow haven't watched this yet, clear your schedule right now!
- “the audience knows the truth, the world is simple. it’s miserable, solid all the way through. but if you could fool them, even for a second, then you could make them wonder. And then you got to see something very special.” one of the most underrated christopher nolan film out there and it was better the second time.
- I have talked about “The Prestige” many times. An absolutely brilliant movie. Layered, multiple meanings. Quotes that mean one thing at first, but then something deeply powerful later on. The first time you watch it you will be confused, overwhelmed. “Are you watching closely?” The second time you will see how everything ties together. “I lied, it was agony.” The third time you will see how the movie tells you the answers over and over, again and again. You are literally beaten over the head with answers, but you refuse to believe. “You want to be fooled.” The fourth time will tear your heart out - watching two men sacrifice everything they have for the sake of their reputations. Sacrifices that forces them both into situations they cannot back out of, hurting not just themselves but everyone around them. “Not today, you don’t mean that.” They each are on a one-way track to doom, where even their true feelings are scoffed at by the ones they love the most. They made their choices and their lives are torn apart by the world they have molded around them. “If people knew the truth they’d scream.” Ironies, sleight of hand, misdirection, truth shrouded in lies and the inevitable pain of realizing that each man had a destiny to fulfill, ending up exactly how and where they both deserved and didn’t deserve. “It was the look on their faces…” In my opinion, Nolan’s best film.
