- Richard9 novembre 2025I saw it in the cinema, bought it on DVD and I still quote “You must not read from the book!” like it’s a life rule. This is peak late 90's adventure cinema, part Indiana Jones, part Universal horror, all wrapped in Brendan Fraser’s roguish charm and Rachel Weisz’s bookish brilliance. Set in 1920s Egypt, it follows Rick O’Connell and Evelyn Carnahan as they accidentally awaken Imhotep, a cursed high priest with a serious grudge and a sandstorm fetish. I saw this on the big screen, and it was pure magic: sweeping desert shots, practical effects and that glorious mix of action, horror and comedy that Hollywood rarely gets right anymore. Then I bought it on DVD and wore it out rewatching the scarab scenes and Ardeth Bay’s every entrance. The effects still hold up, the mix of practical and early CGI gives it that perfect pulp vibe. The cast is stacked, the pacing never drags and the tone? Just the right amount of camp. It’s funny, thrilling and somehow still feels fresh. The Mummy is a classic. I saw it in the cinema, bought it on DVD, and now it lives in my Plex library. And yes, it’s still the best in the series. Don’t @ me.
