One of Clint's most under rated films as well as least talked about. It is a very 70s film - and all the better for it. There are 3 distinct sections, espionage start - training middle and mountain climbing last. If you like either espionage films, mountain climbing films or Clint Eastwood films, The Eiger Sanction should be on your watchlist!

The Eiger Sanction is a fascinating contradiction: it features one of Clint Eastwood’s coolest, most charismatic characters, yet the film around him never quite rises to the same level. As Jonathan Hemlock—a retired assassin turned art professor—Eastwood delivers sharp, biting dialogue and an effortlessly stylish presence. He’s the kind of lead who could anchor a far stronger thriller. The problem is that the plot and several supporting characters feel oddly thin, almost like caricatures borrowed from lesser spy films. Their exaggerated personalities and convenient appearances make parts of the story feel disjointed, as if they were inserted simply to move the narrative along. That said, the mountain‑climbing sequences are tense and visually striking, hinting at the film this could have been with a tighter script and more grounded character work. The Eiger Sanction isn’t without charm, but it ultimately falls short of its potential.

the craziest script. Sone hilariously dated dialogue, overt sexism and racism, homophobic trope for the bad guy, it’s a wild ride. Pretty entertaining
