She is bound by an unspoken life commitment to helping her little brother, Walter, and father, Eddie, preserve their family's land through their only industry, kelp making. But on her 18th birthday, Nora's way of life is challenged when she receives a letter from her sister, Bridie, who offers her sponsorship to immigrate to America. Now, Nora is faced with a choice: stay in the home that she knows, or leave for an unknown life in America.
