Le nourrisson est recueilli par le couple Kent qui décide de l’élever comme son propre fils. L’enfant se met à développer des pouvoirs hors du commun. Une fois adulte, Clark Kent, reporter au Daily Planet, souhaite mener une vie normale. Il ne renie pas pour autant ses capacités à sauver le monde et devient alors Superman : super‐héros volant au secours de la veuve et de l’orphelin, attisant la jalousie de Lex Luthor et l’intérêt de sa collègue Loïs Lane.

Sure, it has a weak third act and a bit of a Dues ex Machina there at the end, but somehow, the beating heart of the film pumps louder than all its flaws. This is THE face of Superman. - James Saenz9 juillet 2025“would you like a glass of wine?” “no, thanks. i never drink when i fly.” it has so much sincerity running through its veins— from the halation and sweeping camera movements in the cinematography to the awe and wonder superman inspires in the common person to christopher reeve’s stunning performance, everything looks and feels so beautiful and full of life; donner’s able to make rural kansas look like a paradise and he really takes his time with the characters. we don’t get clark in his superman costume until nearly an hour in and that restraint really makes a difference. it’s also unabashedly horny (i’m looking at you, balcony scene) and i adore that. there’s plenty narratively that feels corny or like it’s verging on nonsensical (reversing the earth’s rotation to turn back time is just batshit crazy), but that doesn’t really matter when it’s made with so much love and care for the character of clark kent; it really set the blueprint for superhero blockbusters and it’s not often that they’re able to achieve this level of artistry or authenticity.
- M08Y5 août 2025While very clearly a product of it's time, there is an earnest optimism and general feeling of good will that shines through and keeps Superman feeling warm and fuzzy. I can't believe that it's taken me this long to sit down and watch Superman properly but it's clear to me now why people think that we will never quite recapture the Christopher Reeve magic... and maybe they are right. Reeve was quite clearly perfect for the role. The 4K bluray doesn't do much to justify it's own existence, but the more 4K blurays we get the better.

- MJ Media21 juillet 2025My review is biased because I've watched 21st century super hero movies. Yep, this movie is 1978 and the tech is dated. But, the producers went all out with cast, screen play, and John Williams for the music soundtrack. Christopher Reeves and Margot Kidder are perfect for this version. The script makes an honest effort of reflecting the comic book source material. I enjoyed watching -but- it's dated.
- Cole6 juillet 2025Makes you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside. Christopher Reeve was simply born to be a Superman. The personification of charming and sincere. Two hours of pure superhero business: stopping a nuke, catching thieves, carrying a plane, shifting tectonic plates, reversing time and even rescuing a cat from a tree. Shocked how well this holds up too; it’s quite easy on the eyes. Made me happy, made me smile.
