Chandan who originally hails from Kasganj, shifted to Mumbai 10 yrs back and works with a multinational firm where he heads his department. Suman is happy playing the homemaker. The shift to Mumbai after marriage is a high point for Suman as it's the first time that she experiences the sights n sounds of a big city. Theirs was an arranged marriage. Suman was quite a simple and trusting person with a pure heart who finds solace in being a housewife. She had dropped out of college due to her family running into some financial problems. She was married off to the first decent 'rishta' that came her way and that was from Chandan's family. Chandan, on the other hand, was the pampered kid of his family. By virtue of being more educated than Suman, he was also the more dominant one in their relationship. Chandan gets Suman a smartphone to stay in touch. It's the first time that Suman has a Smartphone. She starts exploring it. What happens next forms the crux of SMARTPHONE.
