- Walter Jospeh Kovacs19 octobre 2025Thought I'd give this a watch as I vaguely remember it from my childhood and the concept of giant wind currents around the world had captivated my interest. I also thought the cast was very recognisable. Well, it was rubbish. The protagonist, Matt, is wholly unlikeable and don't give me that "can't judge something with modern views" - when he ties a lady to a bed and then proceeds to force a kiss on her, that was assault in the 80s. Mark Hamill doesn't have many noticeable appearances in films (other than you know what) but he definitely could have had a career playing villains. It's a shame everything looks so low budget in this film and it's a real shame that something better was done with the very sci-fi concept of great winds traversing the globe is how people commute and communicate; but instead so much of the movie is wasted with inconsequential scenes. No wonder it was a huge flop. Many consider it public domain now but this imo is not a cult classic.
