½⭐ – Repligator – Even the decade wanted nothing to do with it. This is pure science-fiction schlock, and I’m being generous even calling it science fiction. There’s no science here beyond the presence of lab coats, and very little imagination holding the rest together. There isn’t enough time or energy to catalogue everything that goes wrong, so I’ll keep it simple: the best part of this movie is the ending credits — not because they’re good, but because they signal escape. The effects are catastrophically bad. Not B-grade. Not C-grade. Not even D-grade. We’re deep into Z-tier territory. Both the CGI and the practical effects are so poor that I genuinely thought this was an ’80s relic dug up from a forgotten shelf. Finding out it was actually made in the mid-90s was genuinely shocking — and not in a good way. I was convinced it was leaning into an ’80s aesthetic on purpose, right down to the 4:3 presentation (at least in the version I watched) and the aggressively grainy image quality — despite supposedly being HD. Discovering it wasn’t an intentional throwback, but a product of its actual era, somehow makes it worse. This is one of those films that serves as a reminder that nostalgia can’t save everything — and that some ideas should stay buried. Preferably very deep. The only sensible thing to do with this movie is remove it from circulation. 🥤 A glass of warm tap water left out overnight — pointless, unpleasant, and immediately regretted.

"Repligator" is a low-budget movie featuring sophomoric humor tailored to a younger audience. It revolves around a device capable of transforming men into women, who then morph into creatures resembling the Gorn from Star Trek whenever they experience arousal.
