- Kevin Ward6 juillet 2025Psycho 2 opens by playing the shower scene from the first Psycho, possibly one of the most iconic scenes of all time. Thankfully, that opening is the only time I felt like this was just a legacy sequel cash grab. There are plenty of other callbacks to the original, but all of them felt like they had genuine narrative purpose. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this. It plays a little bit like a Scooby-Doo mystery (I mean that in the best way possible) complete with red herrings, disguises and twists galore. And there was one knife to the throat (or should I say down the throat) that was surprisingly gruesome. The entrance into the story with Norman being deemed sane, was clever and worked well to put Anthony Perkins back in the center of the story. I really didn’t love the final twist. Really felt like it was kind of tacked onto the end and to me it didn’t seem to make a ton of sense. Everything up until then was a sure-handed and compelling mystery.
