- DaMingus-1 jI finished the book right before watching the movie, and I felt completely let down. Unless I misread the novel, the film's tone and pacing felt way too rushed. The character dynamics were altered, moments that were supposed to deliver an emotional gut-punch were converted into quick comedy, and key story beats were missing or reordered. The book remains the definitive way to experience this story. For newcomers, the movie is a mediocre alternative at best, but I’d still recommend listening to the Audible version over watching this. I walked in expecting something phenomenal—a blend of Interstellar and Spaceman—and got neither.
