- Manuel Frangis26 mars 2025I just watched Mr. Peabody & Sherman and I give it 2.5 out of 5 stars. This one was just kind of okay for me. It had some fun moments, a few clever ideas, and nice animation, but overall it felt like it was trying really hard to be something big and smart while still keeping that kid-friendly energy. It has its charm, but it never really pulled me in or made me want to go back and watch it again. The story follows Mr. Peabody, a super-intelligent dog who adopts a human boy named Sherman, and they go on wild adventures through time using a machine called the WABAC. That setup is actually a cool idea. A genius dog raising a kid and taking him on time travel trips? Sounds like a good mix for a fun animated movie. And the historical twist adds some variety to the settings and situations. But something about it just feels a little too fast and a little too random at times. Mr. Peabody is voiced by Ty Burrell, and he does a solid job. He gives the character a smart, proper, kind of snarky tone that fits the idea of a dog who’s basically the smartest being on the planet. Sherman is voiced by Max Charles, and he does fine too. Their relationship is at the center of the movie, and while there are a few sweet moments between them, the emotional beats did not really hit as hard as they were supposed to. I never fully connected with them the way I wanted to. The animation is actually really good. The historical time periods like Ancient Egypt, the Renaissance, and the Trojan War are colorful and full of energy. The designs are fun, and everything looks smooth and bright. The movie definitely has style, and the visuals help keep it moving, especially when the story starts to drag. The humor is where it loses me a bit. There are some clever puns and history jokes that made me smile, but a lot of it feels like it is aimed at younger kids. There are a bunch of goofy, over-the-top moments and loud reactions that feel more distracting than funny. It does not strike that perfect balance where kids and adults can both enjoy it equally. Some of the jokes just feel forced or like they are trying too hard to be witty. The time travel stuff is cool, but it gets messy. There is so much bouncing between different time periods that the story starts to feel all over the place. Some scenes feel rushed, and others go on too long. It wants to be an action adventure and a heartfelt family story at the same time, and it struggles to do both. The pacing is uneven, and by the end, it feels like it is just throwing stuff at you nonstop. I give Mr. Peabody & Sherman 2.5 out of 5 stars because while it is watchable and has some decent moments, it just did not leave much of an impact on me. It is a movie that has potential, but it never really hits the mark. It is not bad, but it is not something I would go out of my way to see again either. Overall Mr. Peabody & Sherman is a decent one-time watch with nice animation and a cool idea, but the humor and story didn’t totally click for me. It had its moments, but not enough to make it great.
