Bro, Mountainhead is basically what happens when you take Event Horizon (1997), rip out the haunted spaceship, and drop a bunch of emotionally unstable dudes in a bougie mountain lodge during an economic apocalypse. Instead of demons from hell, these guys are getting wrecked by vibes, regret, and way too much introspection. Carell’s like a washed-up version of Sam Neill if he traded space madness for startup trauma, and Schwartzman’s over here acting like a soup-obsessed philosopher. It’s still about losing your mind, just with flannel instead of flight suits. Way less blood, but still totally unhinged. Think Event Horizon for finance bros who’ve seen a therapist once.

Could not be more boring. Great cinematography though

Had potential but went nowhere. It was some kind of Succession inspired tech bro drama, too much talking and very little plot. One of those cheap filler movies that exists to waste time. Sucked. 👎🏼

Very weird concept and movie. It seemed like Modern Family but without the comedy. I’m disappointed Steve picked this movie up. All of his other recent work has been great.

Starts off interesting then the last half veers off in a strange direction. A satirical look at the likely billionaire bros hang.

Four billionaire friends join up together at a mountain retreat watching the fallout from their decisions play out in the media in real time. We could have been privy to the chess moves they make that moved those world events. We could have watched the world crumble further into chaos as the guys stroke their egos, descend into their own demons, and back stab each other. It would have been cheap to make that film. Crafty writing would have made it a classic. I don't know where they were going with this one. The writing is too esoteric, snarky, and unimaginative. The cast is unfamiliar (except Carell). I, for one, don't care what happens to any of these characters. The story is weak. This ship is rudderless. A perfect waste of a brilliant premise.

Had some funny moments, there was a plot, but really; Why bother?

This was an episode of The Office from 2036. Michael Scott is finally rich. But no children or wife yet. Ryan Howard is... As per usual and getting his wank sucked my Michael. Andy Bernard is... As per usual, trying to be level headed amongst chaos but still pushed around. And Dwight Schrute was unable to be killed. Seems EXACTLY like an episode of The Office from future present. If you like things, you will like this. If you enjoy movies, you probably won't. But you might. But probably not really. Maybe though! But...... Meh. It's great!

The premise is fantastic: megalomaniacal tech billionaires hide out in a mountain retreat as their AI app sets the world on fire. Unfortunately, the movie completely squanders it. The plot goes nowhere, getting lost in confusing tech jargon and tedious, awkward conversations. While the characters are effectively portrayed as soulless, back-stabbing monsters, the story around them is a convoluted mess with no satisfying point. A huge missed opportunity that turns a brilliant idea into a forgettable and boring film.

Steve Carell was Steve Carell. The movie was a different take on tech giants in a funny way. It was an okay movie nothing to write home about. I would say it is a good one and done watch. It will sit in the vault for someone else to enjoy. Be prepared for some dry moments.

Mountainhead is the cousin of The Man From Earth that I never knew I wanted. I quite enjoyed this move and I love movies that take place in one setting with no CGI. Being that The Man From Earth came out in 2007 a similar single-location concept was inevitable for Gen-Z audiences. The Man From Earth explored characters sitting around the room and talking about the wonders of prehistorical man, In Mountainhead they're actively discussing how they like plotting ways to destroy humanity while getting rich doing it—and that's exactly the conversation we need right now.

Mountainhead is smug, shouty, and painfully pleased with itself. Tech satire without teeth. A cabin full of clichés.
