Réalisé par Richard AttenboroughFormé par le vieux Merlin, l'illusionniste Corky Withers rencontre le succès à partir du jour où il introduit dans son spectacle une marionnette à son image, nommée Fats. Ventriloque, Corky détourne l'attention du public grâce aux plaisanteries de Fats: autant Corky est gentil et effacé, autant Fats est vulgaire et agressif. Bientôt possédé par sa marionnette, celle-ci l'entraîne à commettre des actes diaboliques et meurtriers.
