They are in the middle of their twenties and suddenly realize that adulthood is right around the corner. But what does it matter, when you enjoy living in the carefree day-to-day life. They party, they talk, they sleep and then they start all over again. "We never have to grow up," Sus says to her friend," Marline, while they watch the sun rise above the historic bridges of Copenhagen. And yet, the thoughts come up - Where am I going with my life? Is there someone out there, who can take care of my heart? And who am I, if I suddenly fall in love with a girl? With a view across the roofs of Copenhagen and with a cigarette in hand, we are let in behind the closed curtains, of the lives of three best friends. In a multitude of scenes, "Lovebirds" depicts the fragile and yet intoxicating freedom, that is everything, during those years, where life is open and the road to happiness starts to get bumpy.
