Let Us Prey is what happens when a group of deeply unpleasant cops discover that their shift has been sponsored by Old Testament justice. The movie delivers plenty of blood and gore with enthusiastic commitment, as if the special effects team was paid by the gallon, and the cinematography looks far too classy for a film where most of the cast is busy being terrible human beings. The plot doesn’t always make complete sense, but honestly, that just adds to the dreamlike feeling that nobody—including the characters—is fully in control of what’s happening. It’s predictable in the sense that you know terrible things are coming, but fun in the sense that you’re curious exactly how much worse they’ll get. For a low-budget indie horror, it punches above its weight—and serves as a helpful reminder that if you’re a corrupt cop, maybe don’t tempt mysterious, silent strangers who look like they already read your obituary.

I very much like the concept of this. I really hoped it would be good, and it surely did not disappoint! I really liked the simple setting of the movie. It mostly plays out in one single place, and that really works out here. It manages to constantly build the suspense as it goes, all up to the finale which goes totally crazy. In a good way. The characters are a bit hit and miss though, with some being kind of far fetched, but it evens out (and then some) with some downright awesome characters too. There are some awkward moments, like some very misplaced lines, and some scenes that really could have been better, but overall it was pretty great.
