Even if it’s not cinematically perfect, every MCU fan — past, present, and future — owes thanks to RDJ, Jon Favreau, and Terrence Howard. The soundtrack is great, the pacing is tight, and RDJ delivers one of the most perfect casting choices in film history. I swear he must have been Tony Stark in a past life. The movie balances comedy, action, heart, and snappy quips without ever losing its sense of fun. If you're reading this review and you haven’t seen this movie… either you’re lying or I’m too old for this. Go watch it. Then watch it again. RDJ is incredible, the movie still holds up, and it’s just a blast from start to finish.
- Flips19 août 2026It's the kickoff to a series that may have been dead in the water with a worse opening movie. RDJ carries the role, and it's this fit that sucks you into the characters flaws and charisma. An overall charming movie that sets the tone for much of the MCUs overall journey. Still sad Terrence Howard did not remain in the role of Rhodey, I felt their on-screen chemistry was always more present and friendly than with Don Cheadle, whose Rhodey felt borderline nagging and generally discontent.

Charismatic quixotic tony Stark goes on a decently plausable character journey whilst the constant evolution of set pieces and tight pacing as well as a decent supporting cast put this above most of the ealy work that would follow it. Captain America does similarly well naratively but for spectical its only topped by the first avengers film.

- MBUlovesCinema30 juillet 2026I finally get why this movie started one of the biggest franchises ever. Tony Stark’s character development was honestly the best part. Watching him slowly realise what his weapons were actually doing and then deciding to become something better made the whole movie really satisfying. Robert Downey Jr. was born for this role. Such a simple movie compared to what the MCU becomes later, but that’s honestly what makes it work so well. Amazing start to the marathon. I finally get why this movie started one of the biggest franchises ever. 9/10
