Humanité Notations et commentaires
- Kevin Ward1 juillet 2025Caitlin Cronenberg debut feature. A high concept contained thriller with a slash of social commentary. I loved it for all those reasons with some bonus points for some of the practical gore. Jay Baruchel, Peter Gallagher both felt note perfect. I also liked Alanna Bale’s performance. Outside of that, I was mixed on the rest of the casts’ performances. Perhaps that’s more of a script issue. Not all of the character turns / shifting motivations felt completely earned. A lot to like though, and I’m all for the expanding Cronenberg film universe.
- Michael Heimgartner3 mars 2025★★½ – Promising Vision, Uneven Execution Caitlin Cronenberg steps into the family business with Humane (2024), a dystopian thriller that starts with an intriguing premise but loses steam along the way. The idea of a world where voluntary euthanasia is enforced to curb overpopulation is rich with potential, and setting the story within a single family’s tense dinner party is an interesting choice. Unfortunately, the execution doesn’t quite match the ambition. The biggest issue is pacing—at just over 90 minutes, the film somehow feels drawn out. The suspense never fully builds, and while there are moments of dark humor and tension, they don’t always land effectively. The script presents morally complex characters, but they remain somewhat surface-level, making it hard to feel fully invested in their conflicts. That said, the performances help elevate the material. Jay Baruchel and Emily Hampshire stand out, adding nuance to their roles. Visually, the film does a solid job of crafting a sterile, unsettling atmosphere, but it lacks the kind of bold stylistic choices that could have made it more striking. Ultimately, Humane is a film with a strong foundation but shaky execution. It’s a decent debut for Caitlin Cronenberg, showing she has a vision, even if this particular project doesn’t fully realize it. With a tighter script and more confident direction, her next film could be something special.
- RepTiX-4 jThe first 30 mins are very interesting, but later the movie turns into something ridiculous.
- gnrrain18 mars 2026I think the premise was very good. I thought the actors were pretty good. I felt the plot was good. I am confident the twist was not good. Overall I think it was a decent movie. Worth watching once. Don't expect a masterpiece and just let some things slide.
- SirMonkalot9 mars 2026This started off pretty great with an intriguing premise and what seemed to be leading towards a big reveal. I found it kind of lost steam halfway through and became a little too over the top for its serious plot.
- Turangamark1 février 2026Good story, gets a bit silly towards the end, but worth watching.
- Mark Van den Eynden8 décembre 2025Good movie Nice story good acting good Filming
