Revisiting classic horror is always such a fun watch, and House is the perfect example of why! It has that amazing, nostalgic mix of spooky horror and goofy humor that just makes it a blast to sit through. The creature designs are so fun and wild, and it doesn't take itself too seriously while still giving you some great haunted house tension. It’s just pure, entertaining 80s fun.

Sometimes I’m in the mood for a movie that doesn’t demand too much thinking—just something fun, a little weird, and good for a few laughs. House fits that bill perfectly. It’s technically a horror film, but honestly, I’ve always seen it more as a quirky, slightly off‑kilter comedy wrapped in spooky packaging. It’s nowhere near the chaotic brilliance of Evil Dead, but it still has enough humour and oddball charm to keep me entertained. I enjoy how the film leans into its own absurdity without ever pretending to be something deeper or scarier than it is. The creatures, the bizarre set pieces, and the overall tone feel like the filmmakers were having fun—and that energy carries through. For me, House is one of those comfort‑horror movies: light, silly, and easy to throw on when I want something enjoyable without the intensity of more serious genre entries.

This is one of those movies where the strange choices are what make it memorable. It has such a unique mix of horror, comedy, and fantasy that it almost feels like it was made with no idea what direction it wanted to go in — but somehow that works. The imagination behind it is the biggest strength, with some great practical effects, creepy moments, and a lot of fun weirdness. It’s definitely not going to work for everyone, especially with how much it jumps between tones, but there’s a certain charm to the whole thing. It’s silly, creative, and completely committed to its own style. A very ’80s kind of movie that may be uneven, but has enough personality to make it stand out.

One of my lifelong favorites. Great introduction to horror for children.

Wow, back when it first came out I remember reviewers generally liking it and the horror community talking about it. Unfortunately it doesn't really hold up and seems more like a made for TV movie. It stars the guy from America's Greatest Hero and has Norm from Cheers and Bull from Night Court.
