- jcaauwe26 janvier 2025Made me cry like the little bitch I am.
- Carliepuck2 décembre 2024Very unique movie, where the main character is time and you just experience it from creeping in the corner.
- SUBSPACE16 février 2026good movie...
- Spoons7 novembre 2024“Here” presents a fascinating narrative, intertwining various moments in history within a single setting. As the camera remains fixed, viewers witness the evolution of this location, from untouched landscapes inhabited by Native Americans to the construction of a colonial home and, eventually, a modern house. This artistic choice creates an intriguing backdrop for a series of vignettes that explore the human condition across generations. Despite this innovative approach, the film’s storytelling may feel distant due to the static nature of its presentation. The characters, restricted by the film’s technical constraints, sometimes struggle to resonate, feeling more like pieces in a visual tableau than fully realized individuals. “Here” is a cinematic experiment that will likely appeal to those who appreciate films that challenge traditional narrative forms. Fans of movies like “Phonebooth” or “Timecode,” which also experiment with time and space within a confined setting, may find “Here” to be a rewarding watch.
- Kevin Ward1 juillet 2025While there are a few moments that managed to move me and reveal glimpses of what Robert Zemeckis was aiming for, the majority of this film felt bland and empty. The stationary camera gimmick, which covers the vast expanse of time, seems to exist primarily to showcase Zemeckis’ ability to splice in visual references to different time periods—The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show plays on a TV in one corner, while a wedding from decades earlier unfolds elsewhere in the frame. While this approach might sound interesting on paper, it comes across as both schmaltzy and visually monotonous. Zemeckis clearly enjoys experimenting with visual effects, but this feels more like a conceit that exists purely to make use of his technical toys rather than a compelling story first that is then enhanced by the cutting-edge technology. That said, there are a couple of moments that work. The stationary camera’s strongest contribution is the exclamation point that it puts on the one instance where the camera finally moves. It’s a genuinely touching moment and easily the film's high point. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience left me wishing I were home in my La-Z-Boy. As for a recommendation—waiting to watch this at home might seem like a good idea, but I suspect the visuals would fare even worse on a small screen. In the end, do what you please.
- Joe Knapp15 juin 2025Indeed worth watching, despite the low ratings and bad reviews. The concept is fascinating and the effects are stunning. The acting is quite good. It is a story about a house, rather than the people who occupied it. But it all ties together quite nicely.
- Richard S27 avril 2025Cool ride as a fly on the wall perspective. Interesting to see and wonder what could have or will happen(ed) in the place we call home
- threedo27 novembre 2024The camera stays in one place the entire movie and the scenes change to show you how much has occured in this one spot since the beginning of time. Its a very interesting concept but the problem is, it shifts through so many actors and goes back and forth from time to time that it makes it hard to care about anyone or anything that is occuring. It feels like it tries very hard to make a point that somehow gets lost in its translation. Although it was interesting to watch and immersive at times, I had a hard time feeling connected to the story. I left not thinking twice about it and moved on with my life. Tina says she liked it and connected with one of the main characters. She explained to me that it told a good story of explaining that your life is so precious. It showed people that were connected with each other in this one spot and their lives and what took place there. It showed the characters living their life the way they wanted or not. That it told a strong message of living your life and that time goes by very quickly. Tina cried a lot trying to explain this to me and I could tell the movie meant a lot more to her and that she connected with the characters way more than I did. Where I felt it looked gimmicky and hard to connect with (as a man), Tina (as a girl) had no problem getting into the story and finding a connection with it.
- The Gutter Monkey22 mars 2025I love that Zemeckis is still pushing boundaries, trying unique things I'd never seen before. But the story and characters "here" were sadly lacking.
- tomfire6 février 2025Waste Time, please dont see.
- sldghmmr25 décembre 2024No highs or lows. Nice though.
