Le jeune sénateur Rick Rast est appelé à remplacer un homme politique influent, mort dans d'étranges conditions. Au même moment, Gregory Wolfe, un mystérieux inconnu, vient bouleverser son existence...
- flavo4324 novembre 2025Harlequin is an ambitious retelling of the Rasputin legend, transplanted into modern Australia and wrapped in political intrigue and mysticism. On paper, it’s a promising idea—mysterious healer enters the life of a troubled political family—but in execution, the film becomes slightly convoluted. Some character motives feel unclear, and certain plotlines wander so far afield that it becomes difficult to stay emotionally connected. The cast, however, is genuinely strong. In fact, for a feature of this era and budget, the performances are probably its greatest asset, with the actors giving the material more weight than the script always earns. Despite that, the film never quite clicked for me. The connection between the Rasputin-inspired figure and the modern political backdrop felt too far-fetched and remote, making the story harder to engage with. It’s a bold attempt—odd, atmospheric, and unique—but ultimately not an easy or especially satisfying viewing experience for me.
