Early 1939. After the defeat at the Battle of the Ebro, the Republican civilian population began a massive flight to France. Women, children and the elderly were joined by the thousands of republican soldiers who, little by little, and seeing defeat approach, deserted. This is the love story of William and Mary, a republican soldier and his beloved during their flight to France, but also that of the more than 460,000 refugees who crossed the French border that winter.
