Delhi's Kathputli Colony slum is India's largest community of traditional artists. Puppeteers, musicians, dancers, as well as laborers from all over India live here. But this is about to change forever. The government has decided that this slum is to be demolished, its people resettled in high-rises. Young residents Vijay, Kusum, and Rahul decide to protest with their arts and soon find themselves at the center of a unique and creative resistance movement against the government's plans. Simultaneously, they courageously pursue their personal dreams in a society that rejects them for their poverty, class and gender. Against the backdrop of the impending demolition, the personal and the political merge more and more as the protagonists come of age in surprising and sometimes tragic ways.
