I’m glad for the impact our good doctor had on the health and well-being of the NFL players. It gives you a sense of hopelessness that only a well-directed film can deliver.

Directed by Peter Landesman and starring Will Smith in a strong, understated performance as Omalu, the film explores the resistance and cover-up by the NFL in response to the findings. Smith delivers a compelling portrayal of a man driven by a sense of moral responsibility, though the accent and some aspects of the character's personal life are occasionally distracting. The film's pacing can feel uneven, especially when it shifts focus between Omalu's professional struggle and his personal journey. While the subject matter is undeniably important, Concussion sometimes leans too heavily on exposition, which slows down the emotional impact. The film succeeds in raising awareness about a critical issue in sports, and the tension between Omalu and the NFL is engaging, but it doesn't delve deeply enough into the emotional toll the discovery takes on those affected.
