Climax tracks a dance troupe's celebration that spirals out of control after their sangria is spiked with LSD. Instead of building a traditional narrative around a clear hero or villain, director Gaspar Noé treats the entire ensemble as a single, volatile organism. The camera glides through the isolated rehearsal hall, tracking characters like Selva as they try to survive the night, while capturing how a shared creative energy quickly fractures into paranoia, violence, and individual panic. While the technical execution and the sheer momentum of the staging are clear, this avoidance of a classic narrative anchor establishes a firm ceiling for the rating. Because the script intentionally swaps deep character development for a sprawling group panic, the second half risks becoming an endurance test of escalating misery rather than a progressing story. Audiences looking for emotional resolution or a clear thematic payoff will likely find the non-stop depravity aimless. However, as a pure exercise in tone and atmospheric dread, it stands as an uncompromising look at collective hysteria.

    Outstanding and spellbinding cinematography.

This movie had quite a unique effect on me, I became increasingly angrier as it went on as people became miserably stoned and ultra clingy. Especially the frizzy-haired blonde who Selva slept with. Just get the fuck awayyyyyyyyy. It was tame, though, which honestly kind of undersold my expectation from a Noe film. Not bad.

Wow this movie blew me away........Climax, directed by Gaspar Noé, is a drama-horror film released in 2018. The story follows a group of dancers who are lured to an empty school and unknowingly drugged on presumably LSD, leading them to experience a dark and explosive nightmare. As the night progresses, they are thrust into a chaotic and terrifying ordeal, pushing their limits and testing their survival instincts. The film is known for its intense and shocking content, as well as its unique visual style. It has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences, with some praising its audacity and others finding it overwhelming. If you enjoy movies that challenge conventional storytelling and explore the darker side of human experiences, Climax might be an intriguing watch. Probably the most notable star in this film is Sofia Boutella who has starred in the remake of The Mummy in 2017. This is a great film if your into this sort of genre and have watched and like films such as Requiem for a Dream, Mother, Irreversible etc....
