Brian De Palma delivers a stylish, intense film, but the over-sexualization of the teenage female characters is way too excessive and extremely uncomfortable, making Carrie almost unwatchable at times. Despite this, Carrie remains a classic, but it’s a story that could benefit from a more modern, sensitive retelling.

Carrie White’s journey from meek, repressed outsider to a force of nature is both terrifying and deeply cathartic. De Palma masterfully uses horror not only to scare but to symbolize the fury and freedom of a girl becoming a woman in a world that fears both.

(like when the teacher bitch slapped a bully - instant relief and a sign that humanity and its justice prevails). Too sad an ending though.
